Power Rankings: Week 13

Its getting tougher every week with these because their really is no separation....

1. Nobody deserves to be called #1 this week...
2a. Rem (8-5) - It seems some weeks hes the undisputed #1, and then there are weeks like this. Losing to last place wapper and not scoring any points doesn't really get you far. Jeter was the high man with 33. Morneau scored 48 over just the weekend after Rem traded. Fortunes may be falling...
2b. Snake (7-6) - Very good overall week for Snake. The pitching was solid with the Nolasco pick up coming up huge. And the hitting was terrific: Fielder, Pedroia, Rivera and Pujols (70 points) were great.
3. Chewbacca (7-6) - Very solid week for Wozzy. Haren was terrific again. Abreu and Ellsbury were huge. This team is on the rise (for now).
4. Garvey (6-7) - This little winning streak is coming at the right time. 3 in a row. Just another good overall performance across the board with Dye leading the way with 59.
5. JD (7-6) - Roy Oswalt was huge with 75 pts, but when no one else pitches well and you play someone who scored close to 600, its tough to win.
6. Wapper (5-8) - Rising fast with two big wins. Player of the week - Tim Lincecum with 85 points! Wow. Hanley Ramirez has really caught fire and this team is dangerous.
7. Snow Crash (6-7) - Don't know if they should drop this far because they did manage to score 500. The Morneau/Utley acquisition has been huge so far. Morneau scored more points in 3 days then anyone else did for the week...
8. Ty (6-7) - Didn't have a bad week, but someone had to be down here. And when you lose two in row and are dangerously close from being the guy with the least points scored for the year, the cellar is your home.

Michael Jackson

This should've happened 10 years ago (him dying) and thank goodness it didn't happen when he was 70. He probably would've figured out more things to do to destroy his legacy. He should've died tragically in the early 90's when he was still popular and before he started doing all that weird shit.

I think (well not really) he's still alive. His funeral service is going to be at the Staples Center. Wouldn't it be the coolest thing in the world if he popped out of a casket with zombie makeup on and started doing the Thriller to kick off his tour? Until that happens, he'll probably just continue hanging out with Darth Vader, Elvis, and Hitler in that resort somewhere that houses all the sposed-to-be-dead legends.

Seriously though, it doesn't make me the least bit sad that he is dead. A lot of people were very upset about it because they loved his music. I get that people loved his music, but I don't think the fact that he made great music makes him somebody worth loving. He was what he was. A freak. The apologists will say their was never any proof of the little kid touching - but you don't gain that reputation without doing something wrong. Anything that implies you are that sort of person is enough for me. Something had to have happened for him to be labeled that way. People don't just make something so awful up about someone just for a story if there is no substance behind it. In my opinion if there is that much smoke, I'm convinced there is a fire. And doing that sort of thing is unforgivable. Rapists and pedefiles are the lowest of the low in my opinion. I put them below murderers because their victims have to live with what they went through. I just wish he would've died earlier. He would've saved himself and others from his own twisted mind.

Power Rankings: Week 12 (Special Guest Edition)

Uncle REM's Power Rankings (with Jumbo commentary...)

1. Rem 8-4 - Utley and Werth were awesome (Team Phillies!) and Rem becomes the undisputed #1 (for now). It

2. JD 7-5 - Sabathia and Smoltz lost him the match with their negative attitudes (and points).

3. Snake 6-6 - Lost because of a multitude of guys on the bench throughout the week. Figures it happens against Snow Crash haha....Pujols had 53.

4. Chewbacca 6-6 - His beloved Upton brother was awesome and so was Greinke - but his beloved Yunel didn't come through. A tough loss to the #1.

5. Snowcrash 6-6 - Arod had 60, Ichiro was big, and Tulowitzki has really turned it up.

6. Garvey 5-7 - How bout Aaron Hill? 73 points. This team could be on the upswing.

7. Ty 6-6 - Berkman has turned it up as of late, but the self proclaimed "cream rising to the top" lost to the bottom dweller.

8. Wapper 4-8 - Performance of the week: Hanley Ramirez, 99 pts. Wow.

Some of Jumbo's notes from the season so far....

How bout the top 2B this year? Hill, Kinsler and Utley. Who would've thought that all of them would be ahead of the dream trio at 3B (Longoria, Wright, and A-Rod).....This is clearly a power league with 5 of the top 9 overall players being 1B with power (Pujols, Prince, Victor Martinez, Morneau, and Tex)......Team Snake leads in overall pts and leads the league in HRs with 156. The next closest is Team Rem with 133. This league is all about the power....Pitching is important, but Garvey's league leading 45 wins have not propelled him to the top. His pitching is ridiculous - with 5 of the top 23 overall pitchers. Its even more ridiculous that those 5 are in the top 12 when it your talking about average points per outing.....Despite being 6th in overall pts, JD has the 2nd best record. It might be because he has the least points against him from opponents....On the other hand, Chewbacca has the second most points overall, but the most against him, which amounts to his .500 record......The top 5 players this year so far have been in this order: Pujols, Ibanez, Mauer, Tex, and Hunter. The difference between Mauer and the rest of the catchers is ridiculous. The top 3 catchers that primarily play catcher (so no Inge or Martinez) have overall totals as follows: Molina (327 pts), Suzuki (304 pts), and McCann (291 pts). To put that in perspective, the following free agents have scored 300 or more total points: Billy Butler, Mark Teahen, Lyle Overbay, and Michael Bourne....And to put in perspective how important closers are, the top three closers are Jonathan Broxton (255 pts), Heath Bell (215 pts), and K-Rod (195) pts. I guess some of us are wondering why we just didn't go for guys like Franklin Guitterez or Scott Hairston - who have more points than Broxton. I'm just sayin is all...

Revenge of the Fallen

It was awesome. It was corny, silly, made fun of itself, and blew up just about everything imaginable. The new (Dwight, the roommate) and the old characters were funny. It made up for no Bernie Mac or Anthony Anderson. The new transformers were just okay in my opinion. The twins were silly and racist. I thought ravage (the tiger thing) was pretty awesome. Sideswipe (the sportscar autobot) was really awesome and underutilized. The Fallen wasn't as badass as he could've been. Jetfire talked to much but in the end was pretty awesome. Devastator didn't do much, but that was expected. He's traditionally somewhat of a dumb ogre. His construction was one of the coolest parts of the movie. Of the old guys, Bumblebee and Optimus were frickin awesome - way better than in the first movie. They just kicked everyone's ass. There were some parts that were over the top stupid - the "vision" at the end when Sam is "dead" comes to mind - but that kind of crap was inevitable. You knew it was going to happen. It made me laugh pretty hard. Megan Fox did not dissapoint, and neither did the new girl that tries to get with Sam - she was pretty hot. I still give the edge to Michaela though. She and Shia were both way better actors this time around. I could go on and on - especially with the mythology part of it - but I'm gonna stop. I loved it. When do the trailers for the third one start?

The Day the World Transformed

Big Big Day.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen starts tonight at 12:01 AM in the IMAX theatre in Reading, PA. I will be attending. I woke up this morning blasting some soundtrack, will continue throughout the day to watch all the trailers, and tonight, I will preface the big premier with the cartoon movie and the first movie. I even have on my Optimus Prime boxers. I'm excited. I don't think staying up is going to be an issue. Remember, no sacrifice, no victory. I will be victorious tonight!

Power Rankings: Week 11

1. JD (7-4) - Miguel Cabrera and Brandon Phillips led the way. This team has made some good pick ups. Leads the league in wins and transactions.
2. Rem (7-4) - Got absolutely stomped in the big matchup but keeps his place at 2 for now. Nobody played that great. Another L like this and there will be a huge drop.
3. Snake (6-5) - When Pujols and Prince each put up 73 and 74, this team is unbeatable. Granderson and Pence were big too.
4. Ty (6-5) - Team Ty pulled away in the big grudge match. McCutchen continues to be a stud and the Matt Cain trade has worked out wonderfully in his favor.
5. Wobby (6-5) - Kinsler continues to put up big numbers and Upton is red hot right now. But it wasn't enough. The pitching was very ordinary this week compared to others.
6. Snowcrash (5-6) - Should've held off Garvey, but couldn't finish. Braun was great, but no one else played that well.
7. Garvey (4-7) - Cam storming back to beat Snowcrash with a huge weekend. The weekend onlslaught was led by some standout ptiching performances by Carpenter, Beckett and Felix
8. Wapper (3-8) - Upton and Martinez continue to be good, but when two of your highest picks (Santana and Lincecum) only produce 24 points total, your doomed.

Great weekend.

I had an awesome time. Thanks so much guys. I wish I would've felt better playing golf on the back nine haha, but it was fun nonethelesswise. Hitting that drive made it all worth it. I also had such a good time at the other places as well. "Marinated Mozzarella" is now a top 10 phrase in my book. I don't know that the trip to Arby's could've gone any better. And the #1 thing about the weekend was - the chicken salad sandwich with bacon on an everything bagel from wawa - that was just majestic.

Thanks again - it was much appreciated. I'll take the soreness I have in my scalp (the hair pulling) for a weekend like that any time.
